EXPLORERS RETREAT

Surrounded by the rolling Staffordshire countryside, The Meynell Ingram Arms is perfectly placed for those looking to explore the great outdoors. From peaceful woodland walks and scenic cycling routes to country trails that weave through the surrounding farmland, there’s plenty to discover right from our doorstep.

The nearby National Forest offers miles of beautiful landscapes to explore, while attractions such as Hoar Cross Hall and the historic market town of Uttoxeter make the area a popular destination for visitors throughout the year. Whether you're seeking a leisurely stroll, a day of adventure or a relaxing countryside escape, you'll find plenty to enjoy before returning to the comfort of the pub.

Historic Gem

The Meynell Ingram Arms takes its name from one of the area's most influential families, whose story stretches back more than two centuries. The Meynell lineage rose to prominence through Hugo Meynell, a renowned politician and Master of the Quorn Hunt, who became known as the 'father of modern fox hunting'. In 1782, Hugo married Elizabeth Ingram, heiress to extensive estates including Temple Newsam, and their descendants combined the two family names to form the Meynell Ingram family.

For generations, the family played an important role in shaping the local area and its communities, leaving a legacy that remains closely connected to Hoar Cross today. As the pub begins its next chapter, The Meynell Ingram Arms proudly celebrates this heritage, blending historic character with the warm hospitality and welcoming atmosphere of a traditional village pub.
